Occupying the Moderns (2026)
Collage of serigraphy, acrylic, ink, mylar paper, and natural mica mineral
33.7 × 46 cm (each)
This series uses the palm tree as a mutable figure for the “Third World”. Inserted into cinematic scenes that question human existence and modernity, the palm appears fragmented, anatomical, or entangled with the surrounding landscape. Combining serigraphy, painting, natural mica, and AI-assisted image-making, the works attempt not simply to quote twentieth-century modernity but to enter, metabolize, and distort its visual language. The palm shifts from symbol to organism: a figure that occupies modernity from within.
