Sharing One Root, Why Torn Apart? (2025)

Joss paper, wire, book-binding tape, stainless steel, construction clay
Variable dimensions

A socialist tree appears to grow backward from the future into the present. Constructed from joss paper, wire, stainless steel and construction clay, it carries the silver sheen of a promised utopia while remaining fragile, transplanted and materially unstable. The orange - imported from Spain and later absorbed into Vinh's local identity - becomes a figure of migration and appropriation. Here, utopia is not a fixed destination but a condition of transplantation: meanings, bodies and materials become something else as they move.
